Juvenile Advocacy
"If the truth is told the youth can grow."

Children need access to competent counsel when they come before the power of the state. In 1967, the United States Supreme Court ruled in In Re Gault that children have the right to counsel in delinquency proceedings. Since then, the role of juvenile counsel has become highly complex. Zealous advocacy requires a holistic approach, involving not just attorneys, but educators and social workers as well, to guide children through a confounding legal system and to protect their due process rights. The standards for representing children are anchored in law, science and professional codes of ethics.
